Hawaii ~ Summer 2011

June 28 - July 8

This time around, we played it smart and stayed our entire trip on the north shore of Oahu at the very lovely Turtle Bay Resort.
The next four pictures were taken from our balcony; we had a spectacular view! The ocean was seriously just right beneath us!
This is the view from our other balcony, not as good, but still pretty amazing.
This is one of two parrots who was present in the lobby every day during our stay; I think he's sleeping in this picture . . .
Looking back on the resort from the actual Turtle Bay
Before we got our suntans/sunburns on.
My brother pretending he was a dead body that washed up on shore . . .
My mom and dad
This is my dad . . . being a dork . . .
Gorgeous view from the hotel lobby windows
It just wouldn't be a complete trip without a stop at Macky's shrimp truck.
My brother looks like he belongs  in a
high-end magazine for sunglasses or something.
Waimea waterfall was more flowing than last time we went.
And this time we got to swim in it, accept for Kylee who cut her leg on some coral and my sister who cut her toe. (You can't go in if you have any open cuts because it's not fresh water, there are some parasites.)
Haleiwa Joes for dinner! My favorite restaurant of all times. I was honestly tempted to lick my plate, but instead I almost fell asleep on it because I was so drained and had just taken two benadryl for my giant mosquito bites.
Huge flip flops, or in Hawaiian lingo, 'slippers'
                         At Castle's Beach

Some very weird things that we saw:
1. A sign that means dangerous waves, but looks like a monster eating a person?
2. Eyelashes on a car?
A stop at the Dole factory. Hawaii most definitely has the best fruit and pineapples that I've ever had.

Slight rainbow
Hawaiian Lu'au at the Polynesian Cultural Center

My cousin won this awesome headband/hat thing because he actually
started a fire by rubbing two sticks together and  using coconut husk.
Just us . . . being tourists . . .
Mikayla's 17th birthday, celebrated at the Oceanarium Restaurant.
Little Kahna, all grown up, but my brother is still not quite as mature, although he just turned 13 on Aug. 18
& then we said our goodbyes to the rest of our family and the Kloeppels as we departed for a very long, tiring flight back home.

Aloha until next time . . .
